Position brief:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an L1 Unix Support Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first-level support for Unix-based systems, ensuring the smooth operation of our infrastructure, and resolving any technical issues that may arise. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
∙ Perform advanced system administration tasks for Unix-based servers, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
∙ Monitor system performance, analyze system logs, and implement proactive measures to optimize server performance and availability.
∙ Implement and maintain security measures to protect Unix servers from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.
∙ Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations in accordance with established change management procedures.
∙ Collaborate with other IT teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and align with industry best practices.
∙ Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and assist in their professional development.
∙ Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system alerts and emergencies in a timely manner.
∙ Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity of operations.
Experience and Qualification
∙ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
∙ 3-4 years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration or technical support role.
∙ Strong understanding of Unix operating systems (e.g., Linux, Solaris, AIX) and related technologies.
∙ Knowledge of shell scripting and automation tools for task automation and system monitoring (e.g., Shell scripting, Perl, Python).
∙ Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
∙ Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues independently.
∙ Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
∙ Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or similar are preferred but not required.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
∙ Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to understand network requirements and align network services with organizational goals.
∙ Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and external partners to ensure smooth network operations and service delivery.
∙ Communicate network-related updates, issues, and project statuses to relevant stakeholders.
∙ Act as a technical escalation point for network-related incidents and provide timely resolution.
Documentation and Reporting:
∙ Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and processes.
∙ Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents, and capacity utilization.
∙ Contribute to the development of network-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.

As we embark on taking WAISL to the next level and we focus on – larger revenue, a larger customer base (Growth Engine), enhanced portfolio (Managed Services, New Digital Services/Products, Airport Services Platform etc.) and building a strong Digital Team backed by a strong Engineering DNA of the Organization (People, System Engineering). Current revenues are at approx. US $50 million, largely secured by long-term contracts. Vision is to scale it up to $500 Mn in the next 5 years with a client portfolio of both domestic and global airports and related adjacencies.
