Qualifications:

Diploma/Bachelor’s degree, (or equivalent work experience). 

Job Summary:

As a Senior Systems Administrator specializing in Server, Backup, and Storage, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of the company’s server infrastructure, backup systems, and storage solutions. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of the organization’s IT systems. This position requires a deep understanding of server technologies, backup strategies, and storage solutions, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities: 

Server Administration:

Manage and maintain a heterogeneous server environment, including Windows, Linux, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software components.

Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize server resources.

Implement security measures and ensure server compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Collaborate with other teams to support application deployment and integration.

Backup and Recovery:

Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for all critical data and systems.

Perform regular backups and verify their integrity. Test and validate backup and recovery procedures.

Troubleshoot backup failures, and ensure data restoration in the event of data loss or disasters.

Evaluate and recommend backup solutions and technologies, ensuring data protection and compliance.

Storage Management:

Manage storage solutions, including SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), and cloud storage.

Allocate and optimize storage resources for various applications and data.

Ensure data redundancy and high availability by implementing RAID, clustering, or similar technologies.

Monitor storage performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and plan for capacity expansion as needed.

Security and Compliance: 

Implement security measures to protect servers, backups, and storage infrastructure from potential threats.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, GDPR, or industry-specific requirements.

Regularly review and update security policies and access controls.

Documentation and Reporting: 

Maintain detailed documentation of server configurations, backup procedures, and storage assets.

Generate reports on server performance, backup status, and storage utilization.

Provide recommendations for improvements and cost-effective solutions.

Collaboration and Support: 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network administrators, IT support, and developers, to meet IT infrastructure needs.

Provide technical support and assistance to resolve server, backup, and storage-related issues.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior system administrators.

Proven experience as a systems administrator, with a focus on servers, backup, and storage systems.

Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., MCSE, RHCE, CompTIA Storage+).

Strong knowledge of server operating systems, backup software, and storage solutions.

Familiarity with virtualization technologies, cloud computing, and containerization is a plus.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Ability to stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
